A Perfect May Wedding by the Sea

Some weddings just have that effortless kind of magic, and Ava and Will’s was one of them.

On May 22, 2026, 63 of their closest family and friends gathered at The Constellation in Kill Devil Hills for a beautiful Outer Banks celebration. The weather could not have been more perfect, the ocean made the dreamiest backdrop, and from cocktail hour by the pool to the last drink of the night, everything felt relaxed, joyful, and completely them.

While guests enjoyed cocktail hour poolside with bacon-wrapped Wanchese sea scallops, mini beef Wellingtons, and crispy veggie spring rolls, Ava and Will were still on the beach capturing those once-in-a-lifetime photos.

And we all know how wedding days go. The bride and groom are usually the ones so busy enjoying the moment that they forget to eat.

Chef Wes wasn’t letting that happen.

He personally headed down to the beach with one of our Couples Chef Boards, loaded with bites from cocktail hour and something cold to drink, making sure Ava and Will could enjoy the food too without missing a minute of their photos. It was a simple moment, but those little details are what hospitality means to us. Taking care of our couples is about much more than what we put on the table.

Dinner continued beneath the tent with our Summer Breeze Salad, followed by a plated menu featuring bistro sirloin with chimichurri, North Carolina jumbo lump crab cakes, Scottish salmon, and a coconut curry bowl, alongside roasted red potatoes and seasonal grilled vegetables. Our team also carefully accommodated several food allergies, including Ava’s serious mango allergy, so everyone could simply relax and enjoy.

Then it was time to celebrate.

Champagne was passed for the newlywed toast, freshly made beignets came out later with powdered sugar, chocolate, and caramel, and when dancing called for a little late-night fuel, a gourmet mac and cheese bar hit the spot.

The bar had plenty of personality too. Will had his Classic Old Fashioned, Ava chose a refreshing Lemon & Cucumber Hugo Spritz, and their dog Oakley even got a signature cocktail of his own, appropriately named The Salty Dog.

But what we’ll remember most about Ava and Will’s wedding is how genuinely fun it was. Beautiful weather, ocean air, great food, plenty of dancing, and two people surrounded by everyone they love.
