The Outer Banks has always held a special place in our hearts. My husband has been coming here with his family every summer since he was just three years old. When we first started dating, I joined their annual trip and instantly fell in love. The people, the close-knit community, the stunning beaches, and of course, the incredible local restaurants all made it feel like home away from home.
In the fall of 2024, surrounded by family, we got engaged on the beaches of Corolla. A place that had meant so much to his family was now the backdrop for the start of our next chapter together.
Being from Wisconsin, planning a destination wedding in the Outer Banks was exciting but also a little nerve-wracking. We wanted to find vendors who truly cared and people who would treat our day with the same heart and attention we poured into it. When we attended the OBX Wedding Expo in January, we met Chef Wes from Red Sky, and immediately knew we had found something special.
His energy was contagious, and his passion for what he does was clear from the very first conversation. Then came the food and it completely blew us away. Everything we sampled was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully created. We left that day knowing our search for the perfect caterer was over.
When we returned for our tasting, Chef Wes went above and beyond by surprising us when he showed up personally at NC Coast. We knew how busy he was, so that gesture meant the world to us. His guidance in curating our menu was both professional and personal; he offered thoughtful input on what would pair beautifully together, making the process not only seamless but genuinely fun.
Fast forward to our wedding day, the Red Sky team exceeded every expectation. Their hospitality was unmatched, their service was flawless, and every dish was cooked with such love and care that our guests couldn’t stop talking about it. While we were taking photos on the beach during sunset hour, him and his team surprised us with a charcuterie of the hors d’oeuvres. Red Sky doesn’t miss a beat! The food was more than just a meal; it was an experience that brought everyone together. And those beignets for dessert, they were an absolute hit!
Planning a wedding from across the country could have been overwhelming, but thanks to Chef Wes and his incredible team, the food and beverage side was the easiest and most memorable part of the entire process. You can feel the heart they put into their craft, and that makes all the difference.
